The Lighthouse, Children et Families
Created in 1999, The Lighthouse, Children and Families is a non-profit organization that contributes to the well-being of children whose lives are threatened by illnesses that require complex treatment, and provides respite and support to their families.
To carry out its mission, the Lighthouse welcomes children at Maison André-Gratton, Quebec’s only pediatric palliative care center, which offers both respite stays and end-of-life care. It also offers in-home respite care and a family support program.
Croix de fer
Croix de Fer was founded in 2011 by a group of cyclists that felt there was a distinct need for a downtown based cycling club that focused on developing athletes. The club had an astounding show of support from the community in its first 2 years with over 30 official club members, and as the season progressed that number increased to over 50 people affiliating themselves with the club. Croix de Fer is comprised of cyclists of various backgrounds from PhD candidates and Architects, to students, Bike Couriers and every day commuters; it is safe to say that we are not your average cycling club.
2012 has seen their membership grow considerably amidst a surging amount of interest and it is certain their numbers will increase by at least two-fold in the coming year. The club’s racing team has evolved into a very competitive entity and they are looking forward to another successful year as we’re fielding teams Senior Women and Men in varying cycling disciplines for 2013.
